Is Water Blasting Environmentally Friendly?

Jet Blast Storm Drain Cleaning Services in Davidsonville, MD

Is water blasting the wisest way to clean? Jet Blast knows!

Water blasting is pressure washing on a larger scale. This technology applies to commercial businesses, municipalities, and industrial businesses. It has multiple uses, including surface preparation and cleaning. Pressure washing on a large scale uses a lot of water; is water blasting environmentally friendly?

Is Water Blasting Environmentally Friendly?

Reduce Hazardous Airborne Particles

Water blasting is environmentally friendly in a way you might not think. In its high water usage, it succeeds in eliminating hazardous particles that would otherwise be flying around during cleaning or surface prep. Rust, paint, dust, and other debris will not become airborne with water trapping it to the ground.

Dispose of Wastewater Safely

Water blasting can use gallons of water per minute, but that does not mean that all the water goes to waste. The waterblasting crew might use a hydrovac truck to vacuum and filter the wastewater. The filtered water can enter the wastewater system, which takes the water into a local body of water. Contaminated water will be disposed of according to laws, which every good waterblasting company will follow.

No Use of Chemical Detergents

Waterblasting does not use any detergents to complete the job. It only uses H2O to blast through hardened debris, sludge, dirt, rust, scale, and more. When it’s just water, it’s hard to get more environmentally friendly than that. There is no chance for any contaminants to leak into the ground or air with water, especially since the crew will remove it and the washed-off contaminants.

Efficient Water Usage

The best waterblasting practice uses only as much water as it needs for the job. It will not waste water; it will clean or prepare a surface effectively without damaging it. Waterblasting has many applications and is a great method compared to sandblasting.

Water is recyclable; it will return to its natural source and back through the water treatment facility for use again.
