What Are Labor Services?

Labor services are highly valuable in the world; here’s how!

Labor services make up a highly significant part of the U.S. economy. They are so major that they make up 80% of the U.S. civilian employment. What are labor services, why are they significant, and how does Jet Blast Inc. take part in them? Let’s take a look into this massive and impactful world!

The Definition of Labor Services

According to Merriam-Webster, labor services are “the services performed by workers for wages as distinguished from those rendered by entrepreneurs for profits.” According to the Balance, there are four types of labor:

  • Unskilled labor
  • Semi-skilled labor
  • Wage employees
  • Contract labor

Yes, a desk job is also considered a labor service, not just manual labor like harvesting or construction or mining. There are other ways to categorize labor, such as full-time vs. part-time and people looking for work or not looking. Even so, one of the most important categorizations is skill level.

Temporary Labor vs. Skilled Labor

Temporary laborers may or may not have the skills to perform the work at hand. If the job is temporary, it could be seasonal or a one-time event. Skilled labor, on the other hand, would more likely fall under wage employees who are performing a service for a wage. Above semi-skilled labor, skilled labor lives up to the highest standards of the profession. Skilled workers all start somewhere, but they perform their work consistently and continue to do well and improve well.

The Value of Skilled Labor

Skilled labor is not necessarily easy to come by. When temporary labor and other forms of labor are mixed in, truly skilled workers are even more valuable. They not only have the ability to perform the work at hand well, but they also are adept enough to complete it swiftly and solve any problems as they arise.

Skilled Labor Taking on Simple and Complex Jobs

Skilled labor services don’t necessarily mean that all the work is difficult. With the top training, practice, and continuing education, employees like those at Jet Blast Inc. can tackle both minor and major jobs with ease in the realms of water blasting, vacuuming, hydro excavation, and more.
